Sigmund Freud Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Sigmund Freud - Research Paper Example The premise of Freud’s psychoanalytic hypothesis was that everything was deterministic. A large number of the fields of brain science didn't exist yet, implying that the brain science of that period was profoundly identified with the science and physiology which was contemplated. He hypothesized the presence of sexual vitality, eros, and the demise sense, thanatos. He was the first to concoct the hypotheses of character: the id, self image, and superego. Freud likewise spearheaded in the fields of neuroticism in that our personality attempts to bargain with the tension brought about by the incongruence’s throughout everyday life. He named these activities response instruments, for example, relocation and suppression. He additionally thought of the thoughts behind dream treatment in that fantasies were the â€Å"royal street to the unconscious†. This was likewise clarified by the â€Å"Iceberg principle† in that a greater part of the human awareness, precon sciousness, and obviousness stays lowered and is commonly difficult to reach. He further kept on adding to the new field of brain science by concentrating on what he called his phases of psychosexual advancement which comprised of the: oral, butt-centric, phallic, inert, and genital stages. It was from these stages and having the option to conquer these stages that character creates (Corey 68-87).

The American Civil War (1861 †1865) History Research - 1375 Words

The American Civil War (1861 – 1865) History Research (Essay Sample) Content: THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR(1861 1865)George WagakaHIST: American History5 July 2017The American Civil War (1861 1865)The United States of Americas constitution was based on two basic pillars: freedom of conscience and liberty, for all people. The framers of the American Constitution believed in the freedom of speech as one of the fundamental human rights given to human beings by God. Slavery and servitude elicited a heated debate between the northern and southern states of United States of America, at the local level, Capitol Hill, House of Representatives, and the Congress. This civil strife or war was between the Confederate states of the South against the United States of America in the North. An estimated 620,000 Americans succumbed to the ravages of the conflict. It started on 12th April 1861 and ended on 26th May 1865. After the Unionists emerged winners, slavery was abolished and the preservation of the Union enshrined in the American constitution, as the 13th Ame ndment. Seventy-five years after promulgation of the American Independence, the Americans were deeply divided on the issue of slavery.[. William Cooper. The South and the Politics of Slavery, 18281856 (Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, 1978).] SlaveryThe northern states advocated for the abolition of slavery while the southern states vehemently opposed it. The southern states were agrarian while the northern practiced industrial revolution. Therefore, the southern states depended on the slaves to work in their large plantations and farms. They used brutal, inhumane, and unwarranted force against their slaves, which at times led to fatalities. This led to absolute anger, fury, and intense resentment among the radical Republican conservatives. The successive Democratic governments were unable to address this issue conclusively and with finality.[. Michael Adams, Our Masters the Rebels: A Speculation on Union Military Failure in the East, 18611865 (Cambridge: Harvard Unive rsity Press, 1978)] The famous Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, before and during the civil war reiterated that liberty, as enshrined in the American constitution was not extended to the slaves. The conservatives in the Republican Party believed that they had a moral obligation and authority from above to stop the slave trade which was above the Federal Constitution. Senators and Congressmen from the south and the north traded barbs; tempers flared up, at times roughed each other in the precincts of the House of Representatives and the Congress.[. Lynn Case and Spencer Warren, The United States and France: Civil War Diplomacy (Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 1970)] Industrial RevolutionThere were other pertinent issues that preceded the war: whether or not to adopt industrial or agrarian revolution, the southern states abhorred taxation as advocated by the North who believed that this measure would protect their industries.[. Article 63 - The Evolution Of Mobile Casino Gaming

Article 63 - The evolution of mobile casino gaming Once upon a time it was a case that you could only access a casino by visiting a brick-and-mortar premises or logging into one on a laptop or desktop computer. It always required you as a player to truly dedicate time to playing too, rather than letting you pick up and play whenever you saw fit. However, when smartphones entered the marketplace back in 2007 with the launch of the iPhone, change was clearly on the horizon. Handheld devices would change the way people gamble online and this article looks at how the medium has evolved over the years. As the field has evolved, more and more developers have gotten in on the action. In US and international markets most mobile casinos are†¦show more content†¦The very latest mobile casinos also deliver flawless animations. If there is one industry that has kept the mobile casino field moving forward, it is software development. Java, flash, and HTML5 have all combined to create stunning animated sequences for mobile casinos. 2D graphics and 3D rendered graphics, along with HD stereo sound, make mobile casino games very impressive on both the eyes and the ears. When mobile casinos first hit the marketplace in 2010 there were less than a dozen to choose from. In 2015 the number is nearing the three-figure mark, each offering hundreds of titles with new games being launched every single month. The field has boomed in a way that many wouldn’t have seen given the slow start to life the platform had. Long gone are the clunky and basic mobile casinos of the past, as today they look impressive and couldn’t be easier to navigate. Looking back at the past it is clear that the mobile casino market hasn’t just evolved, it has arrived, and is here to stay. I, like most, questioned the mobile casino market when it first started. Largely as I was unsure how far any casino could really go with the platform. However, as time has gone on I have clearly been proven wrong. Technological innovations have turned the field from basic and boring into graphically impressively and truly interactive. These days when you want to gamble, don’t feel you have to turn on your laptop, simply reach for your

Arabs in America Essay Example For Students

Arabs in America Essay Arab American is a long and proud history. Arab Americans have made significant contributions to society. They are doctors, lawyers, and educators to name just a few. What Ill be discussing will be not only their contributions to society, but their To start off, Arab Americans have been assimilated into the American culture and society over the past hundred plus years. During this time there has been general loss of their historical culture. As generations continue to thrive, it was noticed that Arab Americans was losing touch with their past. An idea was formed ten years ago to create a cultural center where Arab Americans could go to study their heritage. These studies would include language and many other aspects of the Arab culture. The hardest part of this venture would be Through years of fundraising, lobbying on capital hill and donations, the Arab American cultural center will become a reality in Houston Texas. When the cultural center opens in 2001, it will be the culmination of many hard years of work and sacrifice to give Arab Americans a way to reflect on their past, present and future. Arab Americans have been stereotyped for many, many years and are still undergoing the same treatment. In movies they are depicted as terrorists. In society as a whole they are seen as cab drivers and convenience store clerks (7-eleven). While Arab Americans do occupy some of these positions, so do whites and blacks. It is unfair to depict them in such an negative aspect because their contributions are much greater to society as a whole. Another stereotype is linking all Arab Americans to terrorist activities. Only .1% of Arab Americans has been linked with their counterparts in Southeast Asia. This is yet another typical yet unfair stereotype. Arab Americans are also thought of as being a large population in the prison system. This is the worst stereotype of them all. Arab Americans make up only 2 percent of the overall prison population in the United States. I think this could stem from the older generation of Arab Americans pasting down their customs of what was done to thieves in their homeland. In Southeast Asia you can lose a hand for thievery. The Arab Americans practice one religion. The name of the religion is Muslim. Their bible is called the Torah and their god is Allah and he is their salvation. Every year the Muslims practice a tradition called Ramadan where they fast during the day light hours for two weeks. When its over, they have a celebratory feast. In their lifetime, every Muslim would like to take the journey to the Holy Land. By the way, Muslims do not eat pork. They view the pig as an unholy and Arab Americans have been discriminated on for many years. It has been stated that until the media takes a stance to support the Arab Americans and their quest for equality in the United States, the ArabAmericans will have to work twice as hard to be noticed and obtain Bibliography:

Shooting an Elephant

In the essay â€Å"Shooting an Elephant†, Orwell tries to put across the dilemma of a white man in a position of power in the imperialistic Britain, who does not quite identify with the evils of imperialism.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Shooting an Elephant specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This often leads him in to uncomfortable situations requiring him to take actions against his will. Although it might seem that this means carrying out British orders even when he does not agree with them, â€Å"Shooting an Elephant† shows that it could also mean living up to the expectations placed on a white man by the locals, even though it may be against his conscious. In the essay, Orwell realizes that he must shoot the elephant because as a representative of the British imperialism in the small town, not doing so would have shown the British Empire to be a foreign oppressor that could not be trusted to pr otect the locals when needed. Orwell makes its very clear at the outset that even though he represented the British imperialism, he had already decided that â€Å"imperialism was an evil thing† (para 2) and secretly sided with the Burmese in their fight against the British oppression. So even though the Burmese saw him as an enemy and tried to harm him in inconspicuous ways, Orwell actually empathized with their cause. As such, his duties as police officer often meant that he had to carry out orders that at a personal level he found distasteful. It also meant that the locals, who had no way of knowing how he really felt, judged him based on the actions that he carried out as an instrument of the British rule. According to Bertonneau, â€Å"The â€Å"British Empire† is never present in and of itself, because it is an abstraction, a system; it only appears through its agents† (para 3), the agent in this case being Orwell. As a result, Orwell realizes that he must always act in way that is expected of a white man, even though he may not personally agree with those actions. This need to always behave in a way expected of him is not because of any pressure from the empire or his superiors but because as a representative of the British ruler, he must do everything he can to â€Å"impress the ‘natives’ and so in every crisis he has got to do what the ‘natives’ expect of him† (para 7).Advertising Looking for essay on british literature? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Killing the elephant was not only morally wrong since it was a source of income to its owner but even legally it bordered on the gray. Orwell was well aware of this even before he laid his eyes on the elephant. He never really intended to kill the elephant and when he borrowed the elephant rifle, it was more as an act of self defense than with any intention to shoot at the elephant. Yet, once he had got the gun, the natives expected him to kill the elephant and protect them from the â€Å"crazy† animal. As more and more natives gathered, the pressure to do what was expected of him and impress the natives grew, until Orwell was left with no other option but to shoot the elephant, against his better judgment. Orwell’s actions show that even though as a person he may not want to kill the elephant, as a white man, â€Å"he wears a mask† of the colonizer and hence must live up to the expectations placed on a white colonizer, that is, make sure that â€Å"his face grows to fit† the said mask. As a white man in the colony, he is by definition supposed to be superior to those he colonizes. He cannot afford to show any kind of weakness which would in any way compromise his superiority over the colonized. As a result, even though he believes that imperialism is evil, he â€Å"ultimately fails to see beyond the ‘yellow faces’ of the Burmansâ € (Tyner 266). His â€Å"white mask† of the colonizer is juxtaposed against the â€Å"yellow mask† of the colonized and the white man must always come across as the superior. If he had not killed the elephant, he would have come across as a weak person and become a laughing stock among the locals. As Orwell mentions, their â€Å"hideous laughter† and â€Å"sneering yellow faces† (para 1) were getting on his nerves and he could not allow them to get another opportunity to laugh at him. By killing the elephant, he made sure that the superior white mask of the colonizer that he wore in his interactions with natives remained firmly in place. Thus, Orwell contends that even though he was supposedly the free white man ruling the native Burmans, in reality he was not really free as he could not do what he really wanted to do but must always to what was expected of him as a representative of the British government.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Shooting an Elephant specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The British Empire is just an abstract system but it is the actual people, whether the colonized or the colonizer, who must give up their freedom in order to live within this system. In killing the elephant, Orwell stopped being a â€Å"person† and become just an agent of the British Empire, thus losing his freedom as an individual. Find Your Next Crime Novel with CrimeBookJunkie

Find Your Next Crime Novel with CrimeBookJunkie Crimebookjunkie.co.uk is a riveting blog that will keep you entertained and engaged as you learn which crime books are worth your time. Noelle Holten, who runs the site, creates honest and captivating reviews about a large variety of crime novels.CrimeBookJunkie reviews only crime novels that Noelle (or one of her guest reviewers) enjoyed reading and would recommend to her readers. She keeps her reviews positive and offers only constructive criticism when necessary. Although she will no longer give star ratings after February 2018, she clarifies that she reviews only books that she considers between three and five stars. Reviews posted on the site before February 5, 2018 still include her (or her guest reviewers) star ratings.Noelle worked as a senior probation officer for more than 17 years, so she is very familiar with the criminal justice system and applies that knowledge when reviewing. She exhibits personal knowledge about believability in the criminal system and the various per sonality types that are frequently represented in the justice system and crime books. As a reader and a writer, I found her assessments of character development really informative and helpful. Noelles writing style is casual and playful, and she addresses her readers as if we already know each other in real life. Her lighthearted humor comes through in her writing and is quite endearing. Here is a perfect example of her unique voice from her review of Liars by Frances Vick: It is deliciously devious, twisted and grabs you by the cahonies before kicking you to the curb! You can find an example of her expert use of constructive and kind criticism in her review of Silent Victim by Caroline Mitchell: As an author, Caroline really knows how to create characters that get under our skin, whether we love them or loathe them, they stay with us. I thought the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking but that works sometimes†¦maybe its because I just wanted more!In additio n to her feisty written voice, Noelle is also dedicated to her readers and provides a response on virtually every comment that readers post on the blog. This is a time-consuming task, but it shows that she really is invested in her readers and cares about their opinions.Noelles dedication to the genre and to her blog is evident on every page within the site. As a result, crimebookjunkie.co.uk is a standout blog that has caught the attention of many people within the blogosphere and has won multiple awards.CrimeBookJunkie features guest reviewers as well, which you can find mixed in with the rest of Noelles reviews. Noelles regular guest reviewer Claire Knight stopped reviewing as of January 2018, when she moved on to start her own review site. Noelles generous and caring personality shines in her farewell to Claire, and you can tell that she was a wonderful mentor who truly wants the best for those working with her. Claire contributed numerous solid and valuable reviews over the cou rse of two years; those reviews will continue to be available within the Guest Reviews section.Since Claires departure, BookAddictShaun is currently the most frequent guest reviewer and offers a more serious and introspective look into the books reviewed. I really appreciated and enjoyed his analysis of the risks involved with making our lives available (and stalkable) via social media in his review of The Photographer by Craig Roberston. Although BookAddictShaun offers more in-depth insights on the topics covered within the books he reviews, he maintains Noelles refreshing policy of keeping reviews positive and providing any negative comments in a constructive manner. An example of Shauns constructive criticism can be found in his review of The Photographer: I found the ending left me wanting more, but perhaps because no precedent has really been set it was kind of left a little bit open-ended but I would have liked a few more chapters concluding the story. That said the closing ch apters in particular were some of the strongest and most emotional in the whole story.Another important aspect of the reviews on the site is that they do not contain spoilers. Although Noelle and her guest reviewers discuss the books strengths and weaknesses and delve into character development and plot twists, they take care not to accidentally step into spoiler territory that would ruin the book for blog readers. The site features a separate heading for guest reviews, but there are no current guest reviews available on that section of the site. It appears she has just formed a partnership with a new guest reviewer known as Scottydog, so keep an eye on this page to see exciting reviews from this featured reviewer. The primary source for new information on the site can be found within Reviews, Interviews Stuff. In addition to reviews and interviews, Noelle posts current news and information from the literary world, including book fairs and literary agent information on this page.A si debar titled Review Categories which is located about halfway down on the right-hand side of the site offers an alphabetized list of the sites topics for quick and easy navigation. I found many fascinating links within this sidebar. The second link entitled Author Interviews takes you to a page with at least twenty different interviews, which are interesting and informative. Noelles energetic and familiar tone must be contagious because the authors she interviews respond with funny and unique answers. For example, one of my favorite responses was from Jonothan Cullinane, author of Red Herring.Noelle asked, If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?His response: Ask. My. Wife.Crime book writers interested in submitting their books for review can do so on the site, although Noelle warns that she is currently swamped with books to review and is currently not taking on new books; she may pass them along to guest reviewers. Under Review Policy, she explains her bo ok preferences and provides instructions for submitting review requests (hint: do not use the comment feature to request a review). You can either email her directly with your information for the review or you can fill out the form on the right-hand side of the page about halfway down, just under the banners for the multiple awards the site has won. You will need to provide only your first and last name, your email address, and whatever comments you feel are necessary. She does provide a disclaimer that if you do not hear a response within two weeks, then you can assume that she will not be reviewing your book. As with all other comments on the site, she responds with kindness to comments requesting that she review books and she reminds them of the proper submission method. The site also hosts occasional giveaways, which any reader interested in crime books should bookmark and check regularly! Most of the giveaways include books that are signed by the author, but last year she even h osted a CrimeBookJunkie giveaway that included an awesome miniature bookcase necklace, a CrimeBookJunkie notebook, and a magnetic bookmark. To enter the giveaways, readers merely have to comment on the giveaway post and include their name and where they live. Not all giveaways are available internationally; since Noelle is based in England, some giveaways are open only to UK readers. However, it is worth checking because she offers international giveaways whenever she can.CrimeBookJunkie also offers excerpts from crime novels to give readers a glimpse inside some of the reviewed books. The excerpts are frequently featured as a stop along a books blog tour, and crimebookjunkie.co.uk seems to be on the blog tour for many of the premier crime books, so you can hope to see either a thorough review or an excerpt (maybe even both!) for the best crime books on the market. The site offers cover reveals for upcoming novels as well. Noelle usually includes a book review as part of the cover re veal, and she enjoys the suspense of making her readers wait until she has properly introduced the author, provided a synopsis of the book, and written a thorough book review before revealing the exciting graphics of the cover. Although they say you cant judge a book by its cover, the cover reveals featured on the site definitely make you want to pick up a copy and read the book behind the cover. The site is also a terrific resource for finding out about literary events and crime book events in England. Noelle is located there, so most of the events she promotes take place in and around England. The best way to stay engaged and to make sure you do not miss any news from the crime book world is to sign up for updates on the right-hand side of the site. Simply enter your name and email, and you will receive CrimeBookJunkie post notifications in your inbox whenever there is a new post on the site. Week3 - Essay Example According to research in the textbook, diets that contain saturated fats and trans fats can affect a person’s health negatively since they lead to increase in the level of cholesterol in the blood, which can in turn lead to heart disease and other acute health conditions. Additionally, the textbook indicated that a study was conducted between seven countries in order to understand the link between heart disease and fat diets. The study showed the two populations, which is the Island of Crete and Finland, suffered from heart disease. Indeed, the study found that the food diet in Crete contained less saturated fat as compared to Finland, where death rates linked to heart disease were much higher than Crete. Furthermore, according to Omega article, consuming more fish and food elements that contain omega-3 helps in reducing the risk of getting heart disease. In addition, omega-3 also helps in reducing the effect of some risk factors such as stress that can lead to heart disease and strokes. According to the article â€Å"Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Mood Disorders†, Omega-3 is an important mineral in maintaining ones moods. This is why people with depressive disorders are likely to have mood swings if omega-3 is absent in their diet. Moreover, research shows that the tremendous increase in depression and neurological disorders is being fueled by the increasing consumption of vegetable oils that are rich in the omega-6 fatty acids (Parker et al. 969). However, consumption of foods such as fish, which is rich on omega-3, helps in preventing depression. Dietary changes from traditional foods that include fish eating to western fast food diets have led to increased rates of anxiety, depre ssion, seasonal affective disorder, and suicide (Parker et al. 969-970). Some of the changes that I would like to make when it comes to changing my food diet include consuming more fish and less fast food. Additionally, I will include

Nike store - Research Paper Example Nike is involved in sponsoring famous athletes and high profile sports figures all over the world. These include baseball players such as Michael Jordan and Steve Nash, tennis players such as Jim Courier, James Blake, Serena Williams, world’s top golf players such as Tiger Woods among others. It has also sponsored world leading football clubs such as Brazil, France and Portugal and other minor events such as high school ball games. Nike has created a number of print and television advertisements in order to establish the credibility of its name. Advertisements may not only serve as a sales tool but may also serve a rhetorical purpose of credibility, persuasion and logic. The most famous advertisement campaign was the â€Å"Just do it† campaign. This advertisement consists of a logo of a swoosh sign and a slogan with a tag line titled â€Å"Just do it†. The slogan is strategically positioned next to the logo. The logo and the tag line are used to represent Nike’s goals and achievement of victory. They serve as icons that represent action and excellence, terms in which any human society can use to relate to.. According to the readings of Arnheim, Barthes and McCloud, the logo and slogan do not represent some kind of image, but rather, give a description of the functions fulfilled by the images. The swoosh logo and the tag line stand for a particular content without visually reflecting its features (Arnheim). The slogan â€Å"Just do it† sounds simple but definitely has a deeper meaning meant to evoke reaction in a human being. In a broader sense, it can be seen to mean don’t think, talk or ask about it just do it. The visual display of the swoosh logo next to it complements this motto (Barthes). These two iconic features can be used to encourage sports figures who may face pressure from their teams. It encourages them to

Changes in Macbeths Character throughout the Play Essay -- Drama

How I would advise the actor to portray the Dramatic changes in Macbeth’s Character throughout the play. Macbeth’s character throughout the play would be very complicated for any actor to portray, so there would be a large amount of hard work needed. During the play Macbeth portrays a large variety of different feelings e.g. happiness, sadness, anger, frustration etc, so I would have to thoroughly advise my actor on each scene of the play. Also, I would have to teach him on how to close the finishing speeches of Macbeth’s lines, these are very important because they carry a very big amount of significance and impact. In every single type of play, one of the most significant parts is the first entrance of the main actor. This is eminently important because, when the audience first see how the main actor walks, talks and the type of attire he/she is wearing, they can withdraw a lot of information about them e.g. whether they are honourable, devious, heinous etc. In the first entrance of Macbeth (Act 1 Scene 3), he opens with the line â€Å"So foul and fair a day I have not seen†. I imagine that this line would be said with quite a deep voice. From reading this line I would advise my actor to walk straight, with his head held high as if he was a very dominant and opulent man. Also a little later in the same scene he gets very obsessed with the witch’s predictions and is zealous to hear more, plus he gets a little bewildered when the witches say that he may become the Thane of Cawdor. For my actor to portray this part of the scene I would advise him to elevate the tone of his voice, to show his eagerness, to learn more about the predictions and also, I would tell him to show a very puzzled face to show his bewilderment over one of the predictions. In Act 1 Scene 4 when Macbeth shows his gratitude to King Duncan for the murder of the Thane of Cawdor by saying â€Å"The service and loyalty I owe, in doing it, pays itself† he seems to be very imperturbable. For this part of Scene 4 I would advise my actor to have a very calm expression but to still show a little gratitude for the honour that has been shown to Macbeth by King Duncan. Later in the play when Lady Macbeth appears, you get to know a little bit about Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s relationship. Firstly when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth meet in the play (Act 1 Scene 5), they seem ... ...ck, and midnight hags! What is’t you do?†. Eventually, the witches bring in three apparitions. The first apparition was an ‘armed head’, he was trying to warn Macbeth of Macduff â€Å"Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth: beware Macduff, Beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough†. This apparition was actually true, because at the end of the play, Macduff decapitates Macbeth. The second apparition was a ‘bloody child’, he said â€Å"Be bloody, bold and resolute; laugh to scorn. The power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth†. The third apparition was a ‘Crowned child, with a tree in his hand’, he told Macbeth â€Å"Macbeth will never vanquished†. The last two apparitions were actually lying to Macbeth, so he could feel in power. To act these parts, when Macbeth hears the first apparition I would advise my actor to have a very smug look on his ace trying to indicate that no one can murder him because he has so much power and loyalty. When he hears the last two apparitions, I would advise him to become very egotistical because of the compliments they make to him. But, at the same time I would advise my actor to be quite shocked, because he is being told his future, from ghosts.

Directing Hamlet Essay

If I were to have the pleasure of directing â€Å"Hamlet† I would first think about how and where the scene would be set. I would have the scene set in the suburbs of Italy where the ‘gangsters’ are, because the portrayal of gangster Italy, on television (which the audience may be familiar with) is like the situation in Hamlet. Where revenge must be taken by the son, also upholding the family honour and such family situations. Also the portrayal of Italians is that they are very religious and that they tend to be Catholics, so the religious aspect of this scene (trying to pray and having the need to be forgiven by god) would fit in with my version and Shakespeare’s. I would have this scene set in a Roman Catholic Church to support the fact that Claudius wishes to pray here and that he is Catholic. I would like the church to echo the voices to show that Claudius’ heart must be empty for him to have committed this evil crime, so all he hears is the voices of his head, telling him what he thinks is the right thing to do, for example to pray for forgiveness. However his heart would be telling him to give up the things that he killed for, which Claudius himself mentions, â€Å"since I am still possess’d of those effects for which I did the murder†. I would like the lighting to be an orangey afternoon colour, like when the sun sets. I imagine churches to be empty around early sunset time and if Claudius really felt guilty he would not want people o see that he is unable to pray I would not have any sound effects as the church would echo and I would like the audience to focus on what the actors were saying. Also silence between lines tends to create a sense of atmosphere. It would make the audience feel tense as though something was about to happen. I would like Claudius to look into the mirror when he is talking to himself throughout most of the scene. Except when it is inappropriate, for instance when he goes to pray. I would like the audience to feel more relaxed by this, as Claudius does not seem to be very emotionally at thins. I would like the audience to feel quite angry with Claudius. I would like them to feel this as they can see that he is not mentally disturbed by the goings on. However when Hamlet goes to talk to himself I would like to have him talking to the audience to show that although Hamlet said in an earlier scene that he would pretend to go mad, â€Å"How strange or odd some’er I bear myself-As perchance hereafter shall think meet to put an antic disposition on† all the frustration about getting revenge and his fathers murder may have actually driven him mad. I feel that having Hamlet talk to the audience shows this, as the other members of the play do not seem to be able to see the audience (King Claudius talking to himself in the mirror). I would like the audience to be shocked, by this and feel on edge as this scene is all about whether Hamlet will kill the king or not which is very tense. Since Claudius is a King in Shakespeare’s Hamlet I would like him to play someone of high importance, so I would have him being played as a gangster leader. The outfit I would like him to wear would be a grey Armani suit, a waistcoat, blue collared shirt, and patent leather shoes. I would like him to have square framed glasses and for him to wear lots of gold jewellery, but especially a gold signant ring to symbolise that he is the leader of a gang, which has resemblance to the fact that he is a king (monarchs wear a ring to show that they are married to their country). I would like Hamlet to be wearing rather informal clothes to show that he may have gone slightly mad. I would have him wearing a plain black shirt, which would be reasonably tight. I would then have him wearing a black Hawaiian shirt with a thatched pattern on it. I would also like him to be wearing dark blue jeans. The dark clothes would be symbolising that Hamlet is still in mourning for his father’s death. I would like Hamlet to be wearing a silver Saint Christopher around his neck, to show that Hamlet may need guidance for the revenge of his father’s death. I would like to keep the language the same as I feel that if the text were to be converted into modern language the impact of the rhythm and words would be lost. Such as when Claudius says, â€Å"It hath the primal eldest curse upon’t,† means â€Å"It’s like when the first murder happened in the bible†. These words do not have nearly as much effect as the original line. The original line provides some atmosphere. The word ‘curse’ suggests evil, as witches were thought in Shakespeare’s time to send curses. Also as people were more religious in Shakespeare’s time the fact that Claudius has committed the worst sin n the bible they may have been horrified by Claudius’ crime. This wouldn’t have as much effect on a modern day audience however I feel that the words too tend to portray that Claudius shows disgust towards himself. Some of the words in this scene are quite difficult to interpret so I would have to make some sort of gesture in order to make it more obvious what the two actors mean. I think that obvious hand or body gestures would make it more obvious. For example when Hamlet says, â€Å"Up, sword, and know thou a more horrid hent† I think that Hamlet should, lift his sword and then approach Claudius. This would make the true meaning of the sentence clearer. A few lines in this scene make it so enjoyable to watch, but it all depends on the actor’s interpretation and delivery of the line. When Claudius says, â€Å"O, my offence is rank† This line needs to be emphasised as it shows that Claudius may be feeling regret for what he did. So he could show this by shouting the line, which displays the anger that he may be feeling with himself. Also â€Å"a brothers murder† must be emphasised as this is the reason to Claudius guilt, and why he is so angry with himself. He could portray this to the audience by saying it slowly, and going into an audible whisper as if someone may hear. Claudius should also emphasise when he says, â€Å"Forgive me my foul murder!† as this shows that maybe he does truly repent and feel guilt. He could shout this line to the ceiling as if he were talking to god. When Claudius talks of the things he does not wish to give up, â€Å"My crown, mine own ambition, and my queen. † The should be said in a low husky tone, to show that Claudius although in this scene he may seem to be wanting forgiveness, he does not truly want it as he would give up these items that he killed his brother for. When Claudius is describing how in the criminal world he can ‘buy himself out of trouble’, â€Å"In the corrupted currents of this world†. This line and the following three lines should also be delivered in the same low husky tone to show that Claudius is still evil as to mix himself with criminals, who were also known as sinners in Shakespeare’s time. Also when Claudius talks to his knees, telling them to, â€Å"Bow stubborn knees† he should speak softly as though here were speaking to a child. This would emphasise the line and show that Claudius is encouraging himself to pray; just a children are encouraged when spoken to in a soft voice. The line he says, â€Å"All may be well† should also be softly as he trying to convince himself that everything will be all right. It is the final two lines that should be emphasised the most as this show the true irony of the whole scene. Hamlet decides not to kill Claudius, as he believes that Claudius is praying and would go straight to heaven. Here when Claudius says, â€Å"My words fly up, my thoughts remain below. Words without thought never to heaven go. † We learn that he was unable to pray anyway so Hamlet could have killed Claudius, only Hamlet did not know this. His line could be emphasised with pauses in between up and my, and in-between thought and never. When Hamlet says â€Å"And now I’ll do it†. I think here the actor should raise his sword above his head and increase the volume of his voice to a shout. Hamlet should then approach Claudius and let out a war like cry to emphasise this line. This I feel is effective as it emphasises this line and the silence that would follow would also emphasise the next line, â€Å"and so ‘a goes to heaven. † I think that those two lines are very important as they show that Hamlet is about to kill Claudius until he decides that he’ll wait. I also think that when Hamlet is talking about the death of his father, â€Å"‘A took my father grossly†, he should speak through his teeth, in a low tone. I feel that Hamlet would be feeling very angry, as he cannot yet revenge his father’s death. So I feel that that talking through his teeth would portray that anger to the audience. This also emphasises the line as the audience would listen to what he was saying as him talking through his teeth would be obvious to them. Hamlet, however should speak with joy when he talks about what kind if thing Claudius will be doing when Hamlet could kill him, â€Å"When he is drunk asleep, or in rage; Or in th’ incestuous pleasure of his bed; At game, a-swearing, or about some act†. I feel that Hamlet would be imagining Claudius being killed and going straight to hell, which would make him very happy. I then think that when Hamlet delivers this last line, â€Å"this physic but prolongs thy sickly days†. It must be emphasised as Hamlet would be feeling quite sad and angry that he has Claudius in very vulnerable position yet he feels that he cannot kill him, as that would not give him true revenge. I feel that sadness and anger can be portrayed by Hamlet having a pause between physic and but. Also the actor should speak in a low tone to get the audience’ attention as this line displays the irony as Claudius is unable to pray. This scene is only effective because the audience knows what happened in the previous scene. They know that Claudius has portrayed his true guilt to Hamlet, confirming Hamlet’s beliefs that Claudius killed his father. The way in which he did show his guilt, (When the players put on a play with a murder committed the same way that he killed his brother) would be more effective in Shakespeare’s time as then all people who committed murder were believed to go mad, and be affected by the site of their crime. When Claudius views his crime he horrified by himself and feels the need to be forgiven which explains his sudden desperate need to pray. I feel that this scene gives Hamlet its edge of tenseness. The rest of the play is an unwinding tale leaving the audience wondering right until the last scene, will Hamlet kill Claudius?

Image is nothing, thirst is everything. This is a slogan used by the soft drink Sprite. It tells a consumer not to buy a product because of the labeling, packaging, or the way it is presented, but to instead buy it because it tastes good. This seems to be an honest and open statement, not what you would expect to hear in an advertisement. Ironically though, just before this slogan flashes on the screen, Kobe Bryant and Grant Hill, two of the NBAs rising starts, are shown talking about how wonderful Sprite is. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - 684 Words

Everyone has heard of the phrase â€Å"stalker,† and everyone has heard of the concept of â€Å"love.† While these two are separate terms, what happens when the two become mistaken for one another? When does admiration become obsession? When is the line crossed from lover to stalker? In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the main character, Jay Gatsby, is a very wealthy man who has once had a fling with Daisy Buchanan. Gatsby and Daisy were once in love but time came and went. Gatsby went to war, and Daisy married another man. When Gatsby gets back from war, he makes himself into a new persona to capture Daisy’s attention in hopes of rekindling their love. However, Gatsby takes his love to the point of obsession. He makes unrealistic rumors about himself, wastes money on luxuries to capture her attention, and expects too much from the woman he claims to love. Gatsby’s love for Daisy is not real love. He has many stalker-like qualities, rath er than the romantic love so many are accustomed to. Gatsby does not quite grasp the true concept of love. As Daisy and Gatsby first met and fell in love five years prior, they do not know one another. They know who each other used to be, but that is simply a depiction of the past. To SMIC, it is 1. 78 per unit, 70% from selling price and 30% from cost advantage (Exhibit 1). For the comparative cost analysis, Samsung have unit advantage over the industry composite in all the five elements. They are raw materials 36%, labor 27%, depreciation 18%, RD 3%, SGA 25. 29%. Compared to SMIC, Samsung has advantages in raw material 36%, depreciation 17% and RD 25%, but has disadvantages among labor 57% and SGA 48% (Exhibit 2). . 1 Analysis Samsung VS Industry Composite a. Samsung’s unit selling price advantage comes from two aspects. First, PC OEM manufacturers would pay 1% price premium to reliable suppliers. Second, Samsung can customize its products for some special use because its diverse products line to get premium. Third, Samsung has the most advanced products which can enjoy high selling price during the first several-month launching time. b. Samsung’s unit raw material cost advantage come from three aspects. First, the material suppliers will give maximum 5% discount to large volume buying. Second, the usage of 12-inch wafer (reduce 10% cost per chip) and 0. 11? m processing technology(80%, the highest yield rate) makes Samsung get more chips with same amount of materials. Assuming the weighted average raw material cost per chip of Samsung is 100%, the Mircon will be 134%, Indineon 116% and the Hynix 161% (Exhibit 3). c. Samsung’s unit labor’s cost may be explained by the salary differences between Samsung ($44000 per year) and the industry ($49312 per year, weighted average by production volume). Also, there are some invisible issues. Samsung provides equal and competitive corporation value, unique evaluation and promotion system and humanity warfare for their employees. These elements make Samsung more productive, so the labor cost per unit is lower. d. The reason for Samsung’s unit depreciation cost advantage per unit is similar to that of raw materials. With high processing technology (0. 11? m) to control yield rate (Samsung 80% vs Industry weighted average 59%), Samsung can produce more efficiently. So the depreciation per unit is lower. The production efficiency advantage (25%) is higher than the cost depreciation advantages (17%). That may because Samsung uses more advanced and expensive machine. e. Samsung’s advantage in unit RD cost may come from three ways. First, the competitive corporation culture drive employees to devote themselves in innovation. And the technical person works together with the manufacturing one, making the innovation process more efficient. Second, the innovation method is effective. The can use same core technology to develop different products types, such as the DDR and Rambus. Third, centralization of the RD facilities saves an average 12% fab construction costs. . Samsung’s unit SGA cost advantage comes from the efficient management structure of the country reducing the general administration cost and good reputation of products reducing the sales expenses. 3. 2 Analysis Samsung VS SMIC a. Compared to the industry composite, Samsung’s profit advantage over SMIC mainly from the price realization (70%), and the cost advantage only stands for 30%. The huge price g ap results from several aspects. First, the quality and reputation for SMIC is lower. Second, the technology SMIC used was one or two generation older than Samsung. Third, use the low price strategy to get the market share. Finally, SMIC using purchasing rights exchanging for technology partners, the price of product selling to their partner may be lower than the marketing price. b. The reason for Samsung’s unit material cost advantage seems similar to the one over industry composite. c. The disadvantage of labor cost is because the average salary of SMIC is only a quarter of Samsung. d. The reason for Samsung’s unit depreciation cost seems similar to the one over industry composite. The gap should be larger. However, the SMIC gets cheap loans and government support, and buy old product line from Motorola. These issues may help SMIC reduce the gap. e. Samsung’s unit RD cost advantages may be explained with SMIC’s start-up status. It usually spends a lot at the early age of innovation. To build a new fab for SMIC is more expensive than Samsung. f. The disadvantage of Samsung in unit SGA may be explained by SMIC’s strategy. Now, SMIC has to manufacture the products for their technology partners. SMIC seem to focus less on marketing their brands and become an OEM factory. 3. Can Samsung retain its cost advantage? If lose, what would happen at Samsung and SMIC? In my opinion, the main drive for Samsung’s profit is its innovation, which can lead to high selling price and low manufacturing cost. The raw materials advantages may be decreased with increasing SMIC production volume and advanced manufacturing technology. The labor disadvantage is hard to say because Chinese labor cost is also rising. The depreciation advantage may be decreased by the efficiency improvement of SMIC. The RD gap may also be decreased by the development of SMIC. SAG depend on to what degree SMIC want to promote their own brand. So the Samsung’s cost advantages over SMIC will be decreased in the future and even lose. However, assuming that someday Samsung loses its cost advantages, it is still very likely that Samsung is ahead of SMIC by one or two generation. Samsung still can make more profit by with higher selling prices. Even though SMIC can get government support and cheap funds, it cannot acquire the same kind of corporate culture and the centralized RD facility. By the way, SMIC cannot tolerant long time profit loses as a public company and the national security concerns may put more resource on logic chip. 4. Options and recommendations. a. Joint venture: Corporate with SMIC or other chip manufacturers in China to produce low end DRAM. Even the low end technology is attractive to China and get government support. Open the potential Chinese market and reduce cost. But it is hard to maintain the relationship with the constant requirement of technology transfer. b. OEM: License SMIC and make it as an OEM manufacture for Samsung. Transfer our low end technology to SMIC. The longer SMIC keeping the contract, the less threat. However, SMIC seems unwilling to accept this contract unless it faces profit pressure. SMIC’s ability may not reach the Samsung products requirement. . Focusing on our own business: Samsung’s core competency is constant and efficient innovation. Memory chip industry is technology-oriented and the advantage cannot be achieved in few years (Unless competitor gets breakthrough such as total substitute, which is little probability). The corporate value cannot be copied in a short time. Samsung may reallocate its resources of DRAM (profit, manufacturing capacity of old chips and RD) towards more promising flash memory business. By doing that it can still keep its leading position in memory chip industry. I recommend this option. How to cite Case Study for Samsung Electronics, Free Case study samples

My Experience From Germany to America Essay Example For Students

My Experience From Germany to America Essay My Name is Kevin Mike Senkel. Im 22 years old and I was born and raised in Germany. Getting to know me better here are some of my personal interests that I do spending my free time with: playing soccer or go to the gym , catch up with my friends or just hang out is what i like to do the most. Besides that I love sports like playing tennis, swimming, inline skating or ride my bicycle. Furthermore I like being doing creative things (doing arts, crafts and painting) but I also like hanging out with my friends like going to the cinema, bowling, barbecues, just having a good and fun time together. Traveling around and seeing new places in the world also belong to the things I love doing most. On rainy days I rather listen to music or read books or play some video games. I absolutely love watching horror movies, I also like comedy and and action movies. If my friends had to describe my personality theyd say the following things about me: that I am creative, humorous, funny, punctual, organized, athletic, a little â€Å"clumsy. † I come from a very small village from the southern part of Germany near Nurnberg which is located in the north of bavaria. There I live together with my dad and my older brother and Grandma. My brother Sven, he’s 24, he’s very interested in sports and techniques things. Some activity interests of him are playing soccer or go to the gym. Michelle, 13 is my sister, she loves doing sports like athletics and tennis. Shes also very creative. Although she is still in school she already know what she wants to do later. Its her dream to become an Doctor for animals. My dad Werner is 47 years old and works as an warehouse manager, he likes play soccer and riding his mountain bike. Birgit, my mom is 45 years old, works as an Nurse, she loves to read good books. My parents are both very busy because they work all day at their offices. But on the weekends I try to spend some time with my mum or dad. Sometimes we go out for dinner. Our sixth housemate is our first pet, he’s a cat called Sammy. We have him now since about six years he’s very cute and very lazy. Where we live is called like a paradise for cats, there are no very busy streets and no big building lots or something like that good for all the younger kids who live in our neighborhood that the surrounding is very quiet and relaxing. In our backyard there are lots of trees and large fields of farmers where Sammy can climb onto. Because we live in a little village with only about 800 inhabitants we have no big stores around and not even a big grocery store. We only have to drive a couple of minutes to town for shopping. This little place is called Oberstdorf and resides in franconia, near Nurnberg. I really love the area where I live, because it’s so green and because of the beautiful nature. Even the bigger cities like Bamberg, Nuernberg or Erlangen still have many green areas, so theyre not grey and dull comparing them to Berlin. The â€Å"center† of the Bavarian forest is only a 30-min drive away from our house, walking through the national park on another weekend and breathing the fresh air is a really good balance to the stress at school or work. People come especially just because they need a time out from their busy works, so they spend weekend trips in the Black Forest. For that reason many tourists come to visit this place. It gets more and more popular. .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .postImageUrl , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:hover , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:visited , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:active { border:0!important; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:active , .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u446b0064cd055e1d86d7609dc7c4f87b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: My Personal Goals as a Student EssayThere are so many things to adventure, in the South we have many lakes and some cathedrals surrounding Bamberg to visit. Our area is also famous for the delicious foods, like the â€Å"Spà ¤tzle, or the â€Å"Sauerbraten† and also for the good wines and beers. I think that America shows the largest diversity of people, cultures and lifestyles in the entire world. That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to become an Au Pair in America. In the year 2000, when I was about six years old, my family got divorced and my mum moved to a town close to where i live with my dad. But the most important issue becoming an Au Pair in America is that I love to spend my time with kids at any kind of age, because in my family I have many younger cousins, all at the age between six and 15 years. Before I came to America I was an athletic coach working with kids at the age of first graders. I also watched some of the kids in our neighborhood and soon I recognized I’d love to do a work that has to do with kids, even better, somewhere else in the world where I can improve speaking in a different language. Becoming an insight of another family’s life with their children and helping the busy parents by taking care of their kids and supporting them however and wherever I can. It’s great being a part of their life and seeing how the kids grow up. I am really happy being in my current host family, I’m here since the 19th of August 2012. This family is very similar to mine in Germany. Except that the boy are much younger. The parents Kaveh and Christine Naficy work hard and long every day. I am taking care of one kid, his name is Khia. The little sweetheart is 4 years old and loves to swim, play tennis and does gymnastics. He goes to two schools every day. One in the morning and the other on in the afternoon. He loves going to school and meeting his friends there. The family also has a pet, a male dog named Harry. He is trained several commands, so he behaves very well. A really cute dog. Kiah and I have a very busy week. He has practice in tennis and gymnastics every week. Usually, on Mondays, he participates in gymnastics. The place where he participates is close by. Its only a 5 minute ride by car. Sometimes it gets kind of crazy when a little kid is very tired and starts fooling around, so Im happy for that when my host mum tries to support me. A normal day is like they get home from school, he is eating lunch, then he might have a short time doing or playing something on his own and then he need to get ready for his afternoon school. That means for me that I have to be super organized and make sure, he gets to his practices on time. Usually this works very well, but sometimes Kiah is very tired some things like getting dressed take a longer time. In general I have a lot of fun feeling responsible and just doing this great kind of job with Kiah. I can say, that this is one of the best decisions I ever couldve made. Driving the car is my most important tool challenging my schedule. Here I live in the borough of Morristown, in Madison in the Garden State New Jersey. I soon recognized why it’s called like that, because in our town there are a lot of green places, we even have woods in our backyard. This place is so nice and I really enjoy living here. Our house is very close to town, it only takes about five minutes to get everywhere, the train station, Stop Shop, the gas station, library, the gym Madison seems to be famous for the Drew University, the Fairleigh Dickinson University and the beautiful downtown of Madison. .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .postImageUrl , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:hover , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:visited , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:active { border:0!important; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:active , .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948 .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u53b7818a837168a73399f38930c6d948:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Information Age EssayIt takes me only 50 min by train to get to New York City. Other cities like Boston or Washington D. C. are about a two hour drive away. Also great is that there are so many other Au Pairs who live in my town, especially the Germans take up the majority. Of course there are also a lot of Au Pairs from other countries, like Sweden or Finland. We have set up a Starbucks meeting every Tuesday where we meet and talk about how things are going in the family, with the kids and other things like planning the weekends or even some travels together. So we have our own little community. Here we have so many options making new experiences and getting new impressions of the â€Å"American way of life. Ive never been to New York City before, so it was an awesome and at the same time a kind of unreal feeling standing on top of the rock and enjoying the view over the Empire State Building, the Central Park and all the other famous sights of the City that never seems to sleep. I want to go to Florida for another time; one of my biggest dreams ever is swimming with dolphins. I saw them at sea World and was totally impressed by these beautiful creatures. Of course I also like to travel to the other coast of America and visit places like the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, LA, Las Vegas, in my 13th month Ill do a tour at the West coast. Besides my lovely work with the kids I’d also like to spend some of my free time traveling around, because there is so much to discover and learn about. A lot of Au Pairs do Bus tours to Boston, Philadelphia or Washington D. C. After my year as an Au Pair I’m going back to Germany for doing physical therapy, that also has to do with my year in America, because I love learning and talking in different languages. I know German and english. But I mostly like English. Parts of studying physical therapy are about the anatomy and the recovering after a surgery. During my year in America I can collect a lot of information and useful impressions for my studies. In a couple of years Id like to be done with my studying and live in my own little flat in Bamberg, becoming independent but still I can visit my family on the weekends. I’d like to have my own car and start working. Besides traveling through my work I’d like to come back to the US and visit my host family to see how the kids are doing and how theyve changed. I am pretty sure that I will miss them and they will always welcome me for a visit or stay. A lot of other young people who were Au Pairs a few years ago come back to visit their host families even after several years. Staying in touch with the family after my year is very important for me because they now give me a place that I can call as my second home and that I’m always welcomed. It’s a great experience that I’ll never forget. Live your life and enjoy the day.

Johnny Tremain Essays (527 words) - Johnny Tremain,

Johnny Tremain When the book started, Johnny was an annoying pain who always fought and always made bad comments about people. Ever since his mother had died, he has been a blacksmith's apprentice working under a man named Mr. Lampham. His mother arranged for it to be that way before she died. She left Johnny with a silver cup. It was told to Johnny that when all of his hope is lost, and God has turned away from him, then only shall he go to the merchant Lyte and present it to him. Johnny kept it in a chest in the attic all locked up. Johnny was the easiest to teach the art of being a blacksmith. He could read and write, and was a fast learner. This made him the most valuable in the family. He always treated the other learners very badly. This is why one day, they played a trick on him. Johnny and Mr. Lampham had a very important client they were working for. They were going to make him a special bowl for his wife's birthday. Johnny was working all week on the handles he was to design. He came close to the end of the week but he still hadn't got it perfectly right. On Saturday he was told that he couldn't work because he couldn't work on Sabbath. So, Johnny told Mrs. Lampham about this and she said that he could secretly work on Sunday. While Johnny was working, One of the other workers handed him a broken piece which had a crack in the side. It broke and silver when everywhere. Johnny's hand went on the stove. He nearly burned it, it was completely silver on his palm. They called for an old lady. A month later, they were going to unwrap his hand out of the cloth they put it in. When they took off the cloth, it was crippled. Johnny's thumb grew into his other fingers. He couldn't work as a blacksmith so he became useless. Mr. Lampham told Johnny to go look for another job. So Johnny went into town and looked with no luck. He came upon a Printers work place and soon started working there. He became friends with guy named Rab, who was two years older than he was. Johnny learned to control his temper while with Rab, and read many of their books which they had. He was taught by Rab to ride a horse. Johnny learned to ride one of the toughest horses. The horse's name was Goblin. Johnny went into other towns delivering papers to subscribers on Goblin. He still found a place to meet Cill, a girl whom he liked in Mr. Lampham's house. He met her in the middle of town. She gave him updates on news which happened recently. Johnny later began part of the Tea Party. He was there throwing tea even with his bad hand. When the British were here, Rab wanted one of their guns because it seemed more modernized than ours. So he talked one soldier into giving him his gun so that the man could be a farmer. Rab fought hard but was killed at Lexington and Concord. Johnny was never found again. At the end of the book, Johnny learned to be a better person overall.

Hum 130 Dq Responses Essays

Hum 130 Dq Responses Essays Hum 130 Dq Responses Essay Hum 130 Dq Responses Essay bellaonline. com/articles/art19100. asp cultureandrecreation. gov. au/articles/indigenous/ An Indigenous religion in Japan is called Shinto. Shinto’s believe that the gods or spirits are found in all things living. Shrines were build around Japan once Buddhism became apart of the Japanese life style. Modern Civilization impacted the religion and people who believed in it when the government altered Shintoisim and created â€Å"State Shinto† for publicity purposes. Indigenous Religions are still practiced today. Another Indigenous religion is the Sami Culture. Sami indigenous religion is a type of worship that drumming and, chanting, yoiking, was of singular importance. It was mostly composed of family members working to become a gate way for souls. Traditionally, the healer and protector is called a noaide. This religion is more difficult to fathom being factual because of the extreme this religion is slowly disappearing. The drums have been the most important tool to the Sami. It is the main communicator. The Sami believe in the â€Å"free Soul† This religion is changing because it is slowly disappearing. Due Date: Day 4 [Main Forum] Read Chapter 2 (Indigenous Sacred Ways) Post your response to these questions: As suggested by Fisher (2005) in Living Religions, consider the interrelatedness of everything in the cosmos as it is expressed in many indigenous religions. How do you think the importance of these relationships developed? What spiritual purpose do you think they serve for indigenous peoples? Post your response to the d iscussion question by clicking on Reply What I perceived from Fisher (2005) about the importance of interrelationships between everything in the cosmos was that people learned to reverence what was sacred and pure. Some Indigenous people use the circle as a sign of unity. The circle has no beginning or end it is infinite. It is said that a circle is the perfect framework for harmony. Fisher (2005) states, â€Å"Life revolves around the generational cycles of birth, youth, maturity, and physical death, the return of the seasons, the cyclical movements of the moon, sun, stars, and planets. † This idea stands as an example for the indigenous people to live by. The importance of this relationship between universe and humans is important. Indigenous people live by the circle because they know that good things will come back around to them if they live accordingly. Life does have a funny way of repeating itself.
